His journey in numbers*:

2 YEARS 3 MONTHS employed by Redemption Roasters

4122 HOURS working as a Barista

519 SHIFTS

S began his Redemption journey completing our five-day barista course at our HQ in King’s Cross, after being referred through one of our partners.

Following a successful trial shift, he starts his journey at the Dulwich Village Redemption Roasters; he is quick to learn and focusses on improving his latte art and espresso shots. Three months later he is given a key to the shop by the manager, meaning he can now open and close the shop. With these increased hours, he is able to join Redemption Roasters as a full time member of staff.

After nine months in Dulwich, he requests to move to Piccadilly for the opening of this new shop, and quickly becomes an integral part of the team from their opening in December 2022. He takes on a natural role of mentoring new staff, and there is talk of a promotion to supervisor. He decides he is not yet ready for this step, but wants to continue working towards this goal.

Fast forward to April 2024, he is ready for a new challenge and wants to move to a new shop and take on the role of supervisor; he increases weekly sales by 40%! He continues to thrive in his new shop and is loving building relationships with all the customers who come through the door.

S is a great example of positive progression within Redemption. He continues to be dedicated to the mission and is passionate about supporting other people coming through the programme, and helping them grow.
