Santa's Yard Christmas Blend

We are excited to introduce you to our festive blend, Santa's Yard - with flavour notes of toffee, apple and cinnamon.

Read on to find out more about this coffee and the artwork featured on it, which was created by the artist whilst in prison at HMP Send.

About the coffee

This Christmas blend - Santa’s Yard - is sourced from Colombia and Rwanda. The combination of these coffees creates a blend which is bursting with notes of juicy red apple, toffee, and cinnamon. The perfect blend to get you into the festive spirit.

The coffee from Colombia - Sembradores De Vida - which translates to Sowers of Life, is part of a project that is very close to the work we do at Redemption Roasters, with a wholehearted belief in rehabilitation. For its producers, coffee is a means to stability and a peaceful life in the municipality of Ortega, which has historically been subject to devastating conflict and drug production. We have been working with this group for three years now, and this year have increased the contract volume by 20%. This is a mainstay of our menu, and we are seeing the quality of the coffee improve year on year.

The second part of this blend is sourced from the Gisheke Washing Station, within the Nyamasheke District in Rwanda. We work with Raw Material, who reinvest all profits beyond their operational costs back into the communities from which the coffees come. Also working alongside Muraho Trading Company, they help co-operatives increase their quality of production, fetch a higher price for their coffee, and introduce them to new markets.

Our partnership with Community Arts Projects UK

As you can see, this festive blend features some fantastic artwork. This is part of our continued partnership with Community Arts Projects UK (CAP UK). CAP UK run art projects across prisons, helping prisoners with their personal development, providing an avenue for self-expression and exploration.

Our partnership with CAP UK started by displaying their art on the walls of our coffee shops across London, and we are very excited to now showcase the piece used for Santa’s Yard and the accompanying Christmas card. It is titled ‘High in the Mountains’, and was painted in HMP Send.

Profits from the sale of this greetings card will go directly to the artist, helping to fund art supplies to continue their creative journey. If you’d like to purchase one of these festive greetings cards, you can buy one (or several) in store. You’ll also receive one of them when you purchase a bag of Santa’s Yard.

Visit CAP UK’s website to find out more about the work that they do, and feel free to pop into one of our stores across London to see more artwork.

You can also check out their Instagram page @communityartsprojectsuk and @hp_art86 for the artist who created ‘High in the Mountains’.
